Inspiring Impressionism opened February 23 and continues through May 25, 2008. Organized by the Denver Art Museum (DAM), the exhibition features more than 100 paintings and works on paper drawn from nearly 70 museums and private collections, some of which have never traveled to the United States.
Tickets for Inspiring Impressionism can be purchased at the Museum, online 24 hours a day at Www.denverartmuseum.org, or by phone by calling 1-866-942-2787 (1-866-942-ARTS) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Ticket prices (which include a self-guided audio tour with adult and children's versions) are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and college students, $12 for youth. Members receive free admission ($4 for audio tour) with the number of tickets determined by membership level and availability. Members can purchase additional tickets beyond that number at a special discount.

District Attorney's Office accepting applications for citizens college

The District Attorney's Office is currently accepting applications for the Spring 2008 Citizens' College course. This free eight week program provides an in-depth understanding of the legal system. Accepted applicants will gain insight into the roles of the District Attorney's Office, the functioning of programs in our judicial system, and an understanding of criminal proceedings.
This course is recommended for any citizen who would like an in-depth understanding of the basics of the law and the practical proceedings of the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
The classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00. The first session this year will begin April 22, 2008 with a registration deadline of April 4, 2008. Class size is limited, so those interested may apply on-line at www.dao.elpasoco.com or contact Denise Minish at 520-6140 to request an application.

Take Two: Film and its Inspirations

The Denver Art Museum Cinema’s spring film series presents a unique program on cinematic influence and homage. Screened in conjunction with Inspiring Impressionism, the eight-film series spotlights the influences classics had on succeeding films and their impressionable makers. Pairings range from The Maltese Falcon and Chinatown to The Searchers and Taxi Driver. The film series will screen Fridays, April 4-May 16, 7 p.m. in Sharp Auditorium, Hamilton Building.
Single ticket prices are $7 for Museum members, seniors and students; $8 for all others. Series tickets are $40 for Museum members, seniors and students; $45 for all others. St. Patrick's Day is here and spring is coming -- are shamrocks Xeriscape worthy?

Local residents can find out if shamrocks are a Xeriscape-friendly plant, and more importantly, learn how they can apply water-wise Xeriscape principles to their landscapes at one of several, free classes offered through Colorado Springs Utilities. Classes are scheduled for April 5, April 19, May 3 and June 7, and start at 9 a.m. Beginning with the April 19 session (weather permitting), tours of Springs Utilities' Xersicape Demonstration Garden will be offered immediately following class.

Workshop Helps Colorado Food Companies Get Started

An educational workshop on Thursday, April 24, is designed to help food manufacturers market their locally made products. The workshop is from 8a.m. to 4p.m. at the Arapahoe/Douglas Works, Workforce Center, 14980 E. Alameda Parkway, Aurora, Colo.
The one-day workshop features advice from professionals in addition participants will also have an opportunity to learn from their peers by networking with representatives from other food processing companies.
The registration fee is $35 per person if postmarked by April 11 and $45 after the deadline. Registration includes the program, information packet, continental breakfast and lunch.
